Five Healthy Ways To Deal With Stomach Issues

Stomach issues come in many different forms, and these days it seems like more and more people are suffering from different illnesses brought on by colon problems, intestinal issues, and more. While diet isn’t the only answer to stomach related problems, it can help.

You should talk to your doctor if you are having any stomach problems, like persistent diarrhea or constipation. Or if you seem to have these problems in connection with certain foods you eat, like wheat, or when you are having a stressful day. You may find you have Celiac disease, or even IBS, and your doctor to give you eating instructions for both, and may have medication that can help with IBS. There are times when stomach problems arise from overeating or binge eating, which can also be eating disorders. Binge eating help treatments might also be considered in such cases to prevent IBS or other problems in the abdomen.

Opt For Bland Foods For Diarrhea

If you are suffering from stomach aches that come with diarrhea, you may want to eat a bland food diet until your stomach problems subside. That means eating things like rice with burger or chicken, without all the extra seasonings. Even toast with just some butter can be helpful. Avoid things like dairy.

An old remedy that still helps some people, as well, is to drink blackberry juice, or have some blackberry jam on your toast. For some reason it helps with diarrhea, and it doesn’t cause the bloat and pain that anti-diarrheal pills sometimes can.

Foods You Should Cut Down On

Simply cutting back on certain types of food can help as well. Sugar can be an addictive substance and can have an effect on the stomach. Some people even suffer from things like stomach cramps after they eat sugar.

Salt can cause inflammation throughout the body, including within the intestines and stomach. This is a good reason to cut back on salt intake. Caffeine is another addictive food substance that it pays to cut back on.

Make Healthier Meal Choices

Instead of buying snack foods full of salt and refined sugars, pick healthier snack options, like fruits and vegetables. Vitamins and minerals found in these healthy foods can even help work to heal your stomach issues. Talk to your doctor about the best choices for you.

Simply eating a normally healthy diet, and watching portions, can be helpful. Sometimes overeating can have an effect on your stomach. If you suffer from lactose intolerance the consumption of dairy can also be a nightmare.

It pays to always read ingredients on food containers. Opt for eating containerless foods more often. Cut back on portions, and be aware of what you are eating, and even why you are eating it. By keeping a food journal you can also figure out which foods trigger things like diarrhea, constipation, or even gas and bloating.

Your doctor or dietitian will have some useful advice on the right diet for whatever your stomach or bowel ailment is.
