Living and Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle

Being healthy is one of our primary concerns within our modern society; as obesity has been on the rise, and more and more of our children have increased in weight, a lot of us are attempting to rectify our eating habits and workout routines in an attempt to set a better example for future generations. It isn’t about body shaming, it’s about living a healthy and long life, but how do we do that?

When we look at advanced athletes, those who are in their physical fitness prime partaking in gruelling events like the Olympics, we see a form we think we’re unable to achieve. Every time we want to place a bet, search sites like sporting giants Betway, or even just flick through images of sporting legends, we always doubt that we are able to obtain what they have. Sports is something we spectate not mimic or are inspired by. And yet every sports personality had to start somewhere, and whether you feel you’re further away from their body type shouldn’t matter: living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle isn’t impossible.

Many of us believe that it begins and ends with exercise, or that it is simply just the tried and tested good food and hard work, while those notions are both true, there are other means of keeping fit that often get overlooked.

Insurance

Before you do anything else, check to see if your health insurance is up to date. You never know when you might be involved in an accident where you require medical treatment, so you always need to be prepared. There are many benefits to having health insurance, just take a look at https://www.iehp.org/en/members/medical-benefits-and-services to see for yourself!

The company you keep

This may sound like a weird piece of advice, but when you consider that our social interactions have significant bearing upon us, then this begins to make more sense. If you only surround yourself with people who have a bad relationship with food, then it will be even harder for you to go against that grain, whereas if you have friends and family who maintain positive habits, then so can you.

Respect yourself

Being healthy, changing your body, will never work unless you learn to respect and love your body in all its forms, even at its heaviest and most unhealthy. Sportsmen and women don’t beat themselves up when they go out and enjoy a large meal, or miss a day of exercise, so there is no reason why you should do the same. It’s important to appreciate that healthy living is a progress, and when it’s done correctly it’s a long and slow progression.

Start Slow

If you haven’t worked out for a long time, suddenly running two miles will not only prove difficult, but it will disappoint you when you can’t maintain that level of exercise everyday. Start small and slow. Even if you’re only doing ten minutes of walking a day when you didn’t before, this type of low impact workout will do wonders for kickstarting your body into losing weight, and keeping it off.

Sometimes when it comes to being fit and healthy, there is more to the journey than merely doing the most conventional and obvious; think outside the box and look at the situation from all sides and you will see more of a difference.
