Walking – The Health Benefits

Walking for exercise is an excellent way to achieve overall good health, including strength and balance development. Walking can be done by most people without much difficulty. There are two main styles of walking: walking and jogging. Jogging is usually more speed oriented, whereas walking is generally relaxed and leisurely. In this article, we will concentrate on walking as it is a much better mode of exercise for overall good health.

Walking is the primary gait of terrestrial locomotion amongst many-legged creatures. Walking is normally slower than running and many other gaits. Walking connotes an ‘inverted pendulum’ walk in which the entire body pivots over the heavy limb or limbs each time its stepped on.

Walking for exercise is not just a good way of keeping fit and healthy but it is also very enjoyable. The most obvious and well-known benefit of walking is the improvement of your cardiovascular health and fitness. The brisk walking pace and the associated heart beat are a proven stimulant to the circulatory system and has many benefits for the heart and cardiovascular system. Walking on a treadmill gives you a similar type of workout at a slower pace, but with added variety and an opportunity to vary your walking routine as you become fitter.

Most experts would recommend that you vary your walking routine by walking on a level surface for around half an hour each day for a period of around five to ten days. This will burn off a significant number of calories as you build up your muscle mass and also build up your bone density in your lower body as well. Walking briskly on a treadmill has the added advantage of helping to improve your stamina. As you become fitter, your pace can be increased gradually to a speed of about a hundred to two hundred miles per hour.

Walking for exercise is also linked to many other positive benefits, such as reducing the risk of osteoporosis, stroke, high blood pressure and diabetes. It is a low impact physical activity that can be enjoyed by almost anybody regardless of their age or fitness level. Many people choose to walk as a hobby and find it extremely relaxing, especially if they choose a leisurely, gradual pace. Walking for exercise is recommended by many experts as an essential part of your daily routine.

There are many benefits of walking, however some of the best benefits are from the social aspect of interacting with others. You can make new friends and build new relationships when you take your walks. If you are a social person, taking your walks can be a very rewarding experience. When you take public transport to work or to the supermarket, you have the added disadvantage of having to pay more money for it due to having to travel in less safe vehicle. Walking for exercise is an easy way to enjoy all the amazing health benefits without the financial cost. Walking for exercise is a very enjoyable way to increase your physical health and decrease your stress levels.
